Religious groups asked late Imam about the legality of joining Rastakhiz party. In a smart action, Imam announced that membership in this party is religiously illegal and is considered as helping Global Arrogance. Late Imam maintained that after his failure in advancing White Revolution ,Shah is planning to convince people accompanying him with use of force and joining this party is religiously illegal. Indeed, Imam’s fatwa somehow foiled Shah’s plots. Imam also portrayed Shah as a person who pays no attention to Constitution and has illegally created a new party which is totally contrary to the provisions of Constitution.

Takhti was found dead in his room in Atlantic Hotel, Tehran, on January 7, 1968. Jalal Al Ahmad writes on his death: “among the population, nobody thought, even for a second, of the probability of suicide.” Some believe that even if Takhti has committed suicide, the Pahlavi Regime was responsible for it, because it created such a hard and unbearable situation for him that led him to this direction

A look at the performance of the Organization of Islamic Conference 2

A castle in the air

Muhammad Rad Mard

The important thing is that what has united Islamic countries within this organization is not so strong. Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) is, in fact, a castle in the air. Even the issue of Palestine that was apparently the root cause of its creation has turned into a scene for rivalry and struggle among the members. Meantime, it is short-term interests of the rulers, and not Islamic states, that have found importance

Modern state, modern tribalism and collapse of Pahlavi Regime

Leila Khamseh

Reza Shah introduced another type of tribalism that was not in nature different from that of Qajars and other Iranian dynasties, but brought many damages to people. Extending the hand of friendship towards foreign powers and linking his interests with that of foreign states, he not only created a different structure of tribalism in Iran, but prepared the ground for presence and direct interference of Western states in domestic affairs of Iran. As a matter of fact, modern tribalism in Iran that came to its climax during the Second Pahlavi era, especially during the years after coup of 19 August 1953, originated in policies of the First Pahlavi Regime. This type of tribalism was far more destructive than the first one

A review on the performance of the Islamic Conference Organization

OIC: An organization with inherent problems

Mohammad Radmard

Established in 1969, ICO potentially has a high capacity in adapting international policies. ICO in recognized by UN and is the only governmental-religious organization in the world. The documents of the two organizations are as the documents of one another right now. Also in official meetings of the two organization, one representative from the other organization is present. (1)
But the truth is that the OIC was never able to act as an international organization as it could. Thus this article is to investigate the structure and organs of the organization. So first of all the structure and performance framework of state members will be explained and then some critiques will be brought up on that

The evolution of democracy in the West

Qasem Babaii

However, an essential issue considering democracy is that this type of governance has been organized, from the very beginning, according to processes and needs of Western societies and so its application in other societies requires some requisites that are mostly absent there. As a result of blind imitation, it is usually observed that establishment of democratic institutions in other countries has failed to bring the very same results obtained in Western societies and have remained as unoriginal methods incompatible with native structure of them

Exploring the future upheavals in Yemen

Qolam Ali Soleimani

Because of tribe-centric society of Yemen, tribes play a fundamental role in political structure of this country. Multiplicity of tribes, their political, cultural, and religious tendencies, and the background of conflicts between them provokes struggle between current elites. While few evidences supporting the probability of a tribal conflict have been found during the revolution, Ali Abdullah Saleh and his advocates are trying, by turning the revolution of Yemeni people into a civil war, to create misgiving among masses that in case of any power vacuum in Yemen, tribal unrests will endanger security of people

Foreign Policy: Five Events to Change International System

How Iran can change the dominant international system

Javad Haghgoo

Multiple comments have been developed about the change in the dominant international system. According to the main proponent of the world-system Immanuel Wallerstein, the world system, as any other organic system, tends to proceed towards decline. In his eyes, there are some linear trends in the system that propel it towards final imbalance. The system will eventually face a crisis leading to its collapse and subsequently its replacement with another. By Foreign Policy’s admission, Islamic Republic of Iran as the single state that has clearly and openly interrupted the cycle of Capitalism and, relying on its own cultural and civilizational components, has stood against bullying of the West, has posed the main and the most challenging crisis before the US government

Kennedy conditioned his continued support for the Shah on his undertaking of a reform program. Moreover, a $35 million loan from the US was made conditional to implementation of some certain policies in Iran. Reform program in Kennedy’s eyes aimed to prevent excitation of public dissatisfactions. This policy underpinned “the White Revolution” in Iran and “Unity for Development” in Latin America. Muhammad Reza Shah had a mission to implement the US-favored reforms in Iran in any way

Apart from depicting a successful model, transfer of experiences and expansion of cooperation on scientific projects can lead to penetration of Iranian power in the region and further in the international level. It gradually can create an appropriate environment for propagation of the ideas of the Islamic Republic in different domains
